HANNINGTONS ESTATE MAKES COLOURFUL RETURN

Retailers at Redevco’s Hanningtons Estate in Brighton have re-opened their doors today, in line with Government guidelines. Stores on North Street, East Street and Hanningtons Lane are looking forward to welcoming customers back and owner Redevco has installed new floor art, window signage and supplied hand sanitiser within Hanningtons Lane, to support its independent tenants and ensure the safe return of shoppers.

Sarah Lulham, Asset Manager at Redevco comments, “We want shoppers to once again find pleasure in browsing The Lanes and felt it was important to mark this special event with a new art installation. Hanningtons Lane is already known for its Alice and circus murals and this time we have commissioned the artists from our new pop up gallery BouSham, to paint Brazilian inspired waves along the Lane. The colourful waves are inspired by pavement patterns found at Ipanema and Copacabana beaches and are accompanied by butterflies and birds which symbolise freedom from lock-down.”

“We receive so many positive comments about the look and feel of this area, but if locals still haven’t yet discovered us, this summer is the time to make a visit. As one of Brighton’s best kept secrets, there are always quiet corners to shop and browse. The next phase of re-opening in July should see The Flint House, Brass Monkey and 17 Grams (formerly The Plant Room in Brighton Square) also open their doors. Our new vegan fast food restaurant Vurger is also opening for take away very soon.”

Many Hanningtons Lane retailers had only been open a short time before the lock-down and Redevco had planned numerous events this Summer. But retailers have instead been incredibly busy behind the scenes, opening for key workers (Pod www.elevateyourday.co.uk), making beautiful facemasks (www.sophiedarling.com) or selling their goods online.
